The Baruch College Bearcats lost to rival Hunter College Hawks, 89-67, in a CUNYAC contest on Friday night at the Hunter Sportsplex.

The Hawks on their Homecoming Night scored the first seven points, but the Bearcats slowly clawed back getting as close as 23-19 midway through the second quarter.

The Hawks responded with a game-busting 17-2 run and would later enter the halftime break up 40-28.

The visiting Bearcats shot a solid 55 percent (12-for-22) during the second half, but could not overcome the deficit in the conference loss.

Melinda Spahiu had a double-double with 21 points, 13 rebounds to go along with two steals. Natalie Ibelhaupt (12 points, five rebounds) and Samantha Genco (10 points, six rebounds) rounded out the double-figure scorers.

Theresa Leung was tops for Hunter with 25 points (10-12 fg, 5-5 3fg).
