Women's Basketball Closes Out Season at Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md.--The Hood College women's basketball team (6-18, 2-14 CAC) bowed to the Salisbury University Sea Gulls (14-9, 11-4 CAC), 62-38, on the road Wednesday evening in the Blazers' season finale.

Jessica Talley paced the Blazers with 12 points and four rebounds while Rachel Wiley finished with seven points, six blocked shots and seven boards. Emily Maerz also upped her consecutive three-point streak to 20 games with her only trey of the game at the 2:25 mark of the first half. Her streak is the second longest in Hood women's basketball history.

The Blazers hung with the Sea Gulls for most of the first half, but after Heather Boyce converted a conventional three-point play at the 5:41 mark to make it a 22-19 game, SU went on to outscore the Blazers 13-3 the rest of the stanza and led 35-22 at halftime.

The Sea Gulls limited the Blazers to just five field goals in the second half and went on to complete the series sweep.

Salisbury clinched the No. 3 seed in the opening round of the CAC playoffs.
