The Baruch College Bearcats lost an 80-47 contest to the Bulldogs of Yale University on Sunday afternoon in New Haven, Connecticut.
The visiting Bearcats battled all afternoon against a strong Ivy League opponent that has played games this season against highly-respected Division I programs such as Baylor, Florida State, Holy Cross and Houston, but in the end, the taller and quicker Yale players were able to power their way to the victory.
Yale, which begins its Ivy League schedule next week against Brown, shot 38.6 percent (27-70) from the field and out-rebounded the Bearcats, 53-37. They connected on 7-of-27 attempts from three point range and 19-of-21 attempts from the free throw line.
The visiting Bearcats shot 31.1 percent (19-61) in the loss with Jessica Duleba(14 points) and Francess Henry(12 points) reaching double-figure scoring.
The Bearcats managed to get as close as 39-26 in the beginning of the second half on a three-point play by Duleba, but Yale went on a 17-4 run in a five minute span to break open the game for the non-conference victory in a regular season women's basketball contest between Division I and III programs.
Baruch will return home to resume their CUNYAC schedule on Wednesday, January 11, with a 5:30 pm CUNYAC contest against Lehman College.
