Ithaca Rallies to Defeat Bearcats (64-59)

The Baruch College Bearcats suffered a disappointing 64-59 defeat to the Bombers of Ithaca College on Saturday afternoon in Ithaca, New York.

The visiting Bearcats led throughout a majority of the non-conference contest and were up by as much as 13 points (36-23) at halftime by shooting 43.3 percent (13-30), compared to only 25.8 percent (8-31) by the Bombers.

During the second half, the Bearcats (5-3) led 40-30 with 10:44 remaining, but the Bombers (7-1) went on a furious rally with a 34-19 run over the final 10 minutes to escape with the five-point home victory.

Shea Devin gave the Bombers their first lead (58-57) of the second half with a pair of free throws and Jessica Farley scored a layup on their next possession for a 60-57 advantage with 1:04 left.


Jessica Dulebaconnected on two free throws to cut the score to 60-59 with 51 seconds left, but the Bombers scored the last four points on free throws in the final 16 seconds to clinch the comeback victory.

Kiara Johnsonled the Bearcats this afternoon with 20 points (6-9 fg), while Duleba finished with 12 points, six rebounds and two steals.

Shea led the Bombers from the Empire 8 Conference with a double-double of 17 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.

The Bearcats will play their final game before the final exam/holiday break on Wednesday, December 14, with a 7:00 pm non-conference contest at Kean University of the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC).
