RICHARDSON, Texas – Concordia University Texas junior Josh Sanchez has been named the American Southwest Conference (ASC) Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.

Sanchez logged his first career double-double while leading the Tornados to a come-from-behind 96-93 win over No. 20 Mary Hardin-Baylor last Saturday. The 6-foot, 200-pound guard scored 27 points and handed out a career-best 10 assists in the win.

Sanchez connected on 10-of-16 shots from the floor, including a career-high 6-of-11 from beyond the arc. He also knocked down one of his two free throw attempts and added two steals and a rebound in 38 minutes of action against the Cru.

The Houston native leads the ASC in scoring average (23.6 ppg) and three-point field goals made per game (2.9). He also ranks second in the league with 5.4 assists per contest.

Sanchez and the rest of the Concordia Texas (5-2) squad return to action on Saturday, Dec. 21, for a non-conference contest at Schreiner. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
