The National Association of Basketball Coaches and the NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Committee are pleased to announce that Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups will be the title sponsor for the 2011 Reese’s Division III College All-Star Game on March 19 in Salem, Va.
The Reese’s Division III All-Star Game will be played at 1 p.m., prior to the NCAA Division III championship game, which begins at 3:30 p.m., at the Salem Civic Center. The NCAA and NABC teamed a year ago to hold the first senior all-star game for Division III, replacing a consolation game which had been played in previous seasons.
The Reese’s brand has been the title sponsor of the Reese’s College All-Star Game played on the floor at the Division I Final Four, this year on Friday, April 1, at the Reliant Center in Houston. An all-star game played on Friday, Nov. 25, at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame during the NCAA Division II Elite Eight, will also have Reese’s brand as its title sponsor.
“This year, in addition to sponsoring our third consecutive Division I game, we are excited to expand our partnership to include the Division II and Division III all-star games for all college basketball fans to enjoy," said Anna Lingeris, spokesperson for the Reese’s brand.
“The opportunity to have all-star games at each of the NCAA championships for men’s basketball is a winning situation for everyone – players, coaches and fans,” said Reggie Minton, NABC deputy executive director. “These games allow 60 very deserving and talented seniors to complete their collegiate careers in a championship environment, which is made that much brighter through the generosity of our title sponsor, Reese’s.”
The selection process for the players in the Reese’s Division III All-Star Game will have representatives from each of the eight regions of competition. Past and present recipients of the NABC Division III Distinguished Service Award will once again coach this year’s squads. Participants for the game arrive in Salem two days prior to the game and will be involved in a community service project, attend the championship banquet and practice with their teams.
