Middlebury bounced from unbeatens

Randolph-Macon led by as many as 10 points in the second half and had a two-possession lead on multiple occasions in the final five minutes but Gabriel Lowder hit a jumper with 15 seconds left to give the Quakers the lead for good. The Yellow Jackets' final shot bounced off the rim twice before falling off at the buzzer.

No. 5 Williams handed No. 4 Middlebury its first loss of the season as Troy Whittington scored 15 points and added 11 rebounds for the Ephs in the 69-64 victory. Williams, which improved to 18-1, did not have Whittington for its sole loss of the season, to archrival Amherst in a non-conference game. This afternoon, Middlebury did not have leading scorer and rebounder Ryan Sharry, who has missed two games after eye surgery.

Second-ranked Whitworth blew open a close game in the second half, pulling away from No. 24 Lewis and Clark in a 79-57 win. David Riley was nearly untouchable from the floor, shooting 10-for-12 en route to 23 points in the victory. No. 3 Augustana remained unbeaten, improving to 19-0 behind 16 points from Kyle Nelson and 12 from Bryan Voiles in a 73-49 win against Elmhurst. No. 10 UW-River Falls won its 14th consecutive game, beating UW-Oshkosh 93-74. Freshman Tyler Hammond connected on a floater in the lane as time expired to help No. 23 Marietta escape with a 65-63 Ohio Athletic Conference men's basketball victory at host Otterbein. 

No. 16 St. Mary's (Md.) got 20 points from Sam Burum and 16 from Alex Franz in a 69-58 win against Mary Washington. Tre' Ford led four scorers in double figures with 22 points and five steals to lift No. 7 Virginia Wesleyan past Washington and Lee 89-78. Tommy Hannon scored a career-high 23 points to help eighth-ranked St. Thomas get past Bethel 82-72. The Tommies have won 53 consecutive games on campus against MIAC foes. No. 20 Illinois Wesleyan outlasted Carthage 103-94 in double overtime. Jeffrey Robinson scored 20 as No. 14 WPI won its 10th in a row, defeating MIT 62-50.

Hope rallied from an 18-point deficit to beat archrival Calvin 76-70 in the 178th edition of Division III's best rivalry. Will Bowser scored 26 and David Krombeen added 23 for the Flying Dutchmen, who now lead the series 91-87.

Wesley kept pace with St. Mary's (Md.) in the Capital Athletic Conference, as the Wolverines won their eighth in a row, edging Salisbury 69-67.

On a day in which it celebrated its 100-year anniversary of basketball, Catholic unleashed a defensive performance for the ages in a 68-32 win over Juniata. The Cardinals held the Eagles to 17 percent shooting and only nine field goals, with the 32 points the fewest they have surrendered in the shot clock era. Scranton lost its second consecutive game, falling to Drew 90-82.

New Jersey City rolled out to a 29-2 lead and beat Rutgers-Camden 63-42. The Gothic Knights own the all-time series 51-4. Texas-Dallas moved into a first-place tie in the ASC's East Division with East Texas Baptist after a 71-60 win against the Tigers. 

Trevoy Pointer scored his 1,000th career point for Manhattanville, but he needed 20 more to help the Valiants prevail in a 115-111 double-overtime win against King's. Hamilton's Ryan Wright steals the inbounds pass with 2.4 seconds left and launches a three to lift Hamilton past St. Lawrence 59-56 in Liberty League action.
