Elite Eight is ODAC's dominion

Three Old Dominion Athletic Conference teams are in the Elite Eight and as the Sweet 16 of Division III men's basketball is in the books.

Randolph-Macon and Eastern Mennonite advanced in early games, while Guilford's Tyler Sanborn had 21 points and a career-high 23 rebounds as the Quakers beat Wooster 75-68 in one of Friday's nightcaps. Illinois Wesleyan beat Carthage to move on as well, while Brandeis defeated Rhode Island College.

For Brandeis, the run continues, as the Judges ended Rhode Island College's season with a 76-65 win. Terrell Hollins had 20 points and 16 rebounds, while Kenny Small added 20 more in the victory. The Judges await Williams, which crushed SUNYIT.

Illinois Wesleyan overcame the 25 points of Steve Djurickovic thanks to 26 points from Sean Johnson and 26 more from Doug Sexauer, beating Carthage 77-72 to become the CCIW's representative in the Elite Eight. The Titans will face the host Pointers, who got 19 points from Matt Moses and 17 from Jared Jenkins in beating Texas-Dallas 74-67.

At St. Mary's, Randolph-Macon was the first ODAC team into the Elite Eight as the Yellow Jackets defeated DeSales 68-55. Randolph-Macon, which held Darnell Braswell to 15 points and the Bulldogs to 35 percent shooting, will get a neutral court game as Franklin and Marshall got 27 points from James McNally to get past St. Mary's (Md.) 92-87. Eastern Mennonite made it a second ODAC team in the Elite Eight as the Royals survived two game-tying 3-point attempts in the closing seconds of a 74-71 win against Whitworth, ending the Pirates' 25-game winning streak.
