Willamette women's basketball coach Bruce Henderson collapsed at the team's practice on Monday evening and died. He was 47.

Henderson was in his fourth season as head coach of the Bearcats. A Willamette alumnus, he had previously been an assistant coach for the men's basketball team, as well as the women's basketball team.

&&g-boxl&&He held assistant coaching jobs at Division I Portland State and Oregon State before returning to his alma mater for the 2005-06 season.

Willamette has canceled its home game for Tuesday night against Corban. Athletic department sources said a decision regarding the team's weekend tournament at Oregon Tech had not yet been made.

Henderson is survived by his wife, Nikki Binnie-Henderson, who played both basketball and softball at Willamette.
